Partner Profile: (cool) progeny and Harbor Harvest

by Antonio Eubanks, Events Coordinator

Families in the city are always looking for ways to get out of the house with their kids but opportunities can seem few and far between. Look no further –one of our amazing partners (cool) progeny is here to make that search so much easier!

(cool) progeny is a website dedicated to the modern, cool parent and their active tykes. Founder and Editor-in-Chief Heather Walsh started this guide over 7 years ago and it is dedicated to connecting parents with family-friendly events, resources and products. Through their community calendar and their themed articles, (cool) progeny has become the go-to place for things to do around the city for Baltimore families.

Outside of curating a family-friendly event calendar, (cool) progeny also hosts a number of other resources to make city living just a bit easier for urban families and the companies who want to serve them. Product reviews, sponsored posts, advertising and promotion of events are all service that they provide. (cool) progeny also host play dates –a co-hosted event where they partner with another organization to provide unfiltered feedback from real families on how well their events, products, or services are serving the community. Visit www.coolprogeny.com for more information on these services and check out their calendar for all the fun around the city!

The Waterfront Partnership also has some fall family fun to share –we will be hosting our 10th Annual Harbor Harvest Festival Sunday, October 15th from 10 AM – 2 PM! Free to attend, this event brings a pumpkin patch, a hay maze, a petting zoo, pony rides and a trackless train to the Inner Harbor every year for a family-friendly fall festival. In celebrating the 10th anniversary of this exciting event, we are packing it with even more excitement for the biggest Harbor Harvest yet! In fact, we’re adding so much that the festival has out grown its previous home at West Shore Park and is moving to Rash Field Park for the first time.

Also new to the festival this year will be stilt walkers and a kid’s costume contest accompanied by a parade for the little ones to show off their looks! For music, we will be rocking out with the Grammy award nominated Milkshake, a local band with a national presence who creates rock music for kids. We’ll also have an amazing host of savory and sweet food vendors such as Kooper’s Chowhound Burger Truck, Farm to Charm, Miss Twist Ice Cream and Funnel Fare!

Although this event is free to attend, some activities are available for a low-cost for even more fun! Both the pony rides and trackless train are $3 a ticket and we have our Kid’s Pass available in advance for $5 ($7 at the event) which includes a pumpkin from the pumpkin patch accompanied by a pumpkin decorating supplies and two fall crafts. You can find more information and purchase tickets on our website or Facebook page.
